This tour with short stretches includes the best of Northern-Zealand (Denmark) including a small part of Sweden. Copenhagen is the world capital of bikes. Come and see what we mean! Exploring Copenhagen is an experience you will never forget. This tour is easy and very suitable for families. You will cycle along the beautiful coast with very pleasant and cosy beaches, you will pass small charming ports, visit important cities such as Hillerød and magnificent castles; journey includes also a round trip to Sweden. In Denmark it is very safe to cycle and you will have several possibilities to extent daily stretches, if you wish to cycle some more miles. Sand, sea, culture and history combine with charm, modernity and energy of the capital city Copenhagen – this tour is really complete, easy and suitable for all.

Day 1

Individual arrival to Copenhagen
Arrival in Copenhagen. Arrive at your hotel and free time to explore the Danish Capital, visit Nyhavn, the Royal Castle or the amusement park Tivoli.
Overnight stay in the centre of Copenhagen.


Day 2 

Copenhagen- Hørsholm  26 km/16 miles

Cycling through Copenhagen on your bike is a fantastic tour start. You will pass some of the famous sights such as the Little Mermaid and the famous beach “Bellevue”. In Dyrehaven, the Royal hunting grounds, you will be cycling on peaceful paths surrounded by century old trees and curious deer. You can make a refreshment stop at “Bakken”, the oldest amusement park in the world,  before reaching your hotel in the Hørsholm area on the coast of Øresund.

Day 3 

Hørsholm to Helsingør about 20 km/12 miles

Today you will be cycling along the coastline all day passing two of the finest museums in Denmark. In Rungsted you can visit Rungstedlund, the home of the Danish author Karen Blixen (world famous for “Out of Africa”), and in Humlebæk you can visit the Museum of Modern Art “Louisiana”, famous not only for its exhibitions, but as well for its beautiful architecture and location. You will end up in Snekkersten, a former fishing village. Snekkersten is only 2 km from the centre of Helsingør, so after an easy day on the bike you might wish to spend the afternoon visiting the old borough with the impressive Kronborg Castle (the castle from Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”). Overnight stay in Helsingør area.


Day 4 

Roundtrip to Sweden and/or Helsingør 35 km/21 miles

Absolutely recommended is the 2 km route from Snekkersten to Helsingør and the majestic castle of Kronborg (the castle from Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”) and the historic centre.
Also the Danish maritime museum, included in the list of New York Times: ”the 52 top places to visit in 2014” is absolutely worth a visit because it has an impressive architecture and a noteworthy exhibition. The ferry to Sweden leaves every 15 minutes, price is 8 euro (not included) for a return trip. Snekkersten or in Helsingør.  


Day 5 

Day 5: Helsingør – Hillerød . 41-51 km/25-32 miles.

The route North out of Helsingør is unique with its views to the Swedish coast only 4 kms away. The large ships sail close to the coast, as you cycle along the coast towards Hornbæk. In Hornbæk you can find one of the best beaches in Denmark as well as a couple of excellent restaurants. After a good lunch you continue along one deepest lake of Denmark. You reach Hillerød with its Fredensborg castle. You can make a detour of 10 km to visit another catle, the castle of Frederiksborg.  Overnight stay in Hillerød.


Day 6

From Hillerød to Copenhaghen 38 km/24 miles or 18 km/10 miles + train.

Heading South towards Copenhagen you pass idyllic sceneries, lovely forests and wetlands with a rich birdlife. You will be impressed by the rich nature in a densely populated area close to the capital. You will be amazed how easy it is by bike to cycle from the green northern Zealand to the capital of Denmark. While the first 18 kilometres towards Farum are on winding paths and smaller roads, the last 20 kilometres are along the new ”supercykelsti” (Super cycle path), that brings all the commuting cyclists to the centre of Copenhagen. Overnight stay in the centre of Copenhagen. When you come to Nørrebro, which is one of the most colourful neighbourhoods in Copenhagen, you have to slow down and be aware of all the different cyclists heading towards the city.


Day 7

Check out or use the possibility to extend your stay with a few additional days in Copenhagen. You can choose extra nights at your hotel or you can join one of our other bike tours.

Sundays: from 26/05 to 08/09 (last departure). For groups of 8 or more people, upon request, other dates of departure are available. In this case, price could be higher.

Difficulty 1

Easy: tour for all (also suitable for families with children).
The terrain is mostly flat with occasional small hills. The tour is rated leisurely and is suited for families and cyclists in average physical condition. You ride along paved and unpaved bike paths and mostly minor roads. In Copenhagen you have plenty of bike lanes and the drivers are used to paying a lot of attention to cyclists.
We will provide detailed maps and route descriptions with notes about sights, places to eat etc. The route can be downloaded to a GPS or your smart phone.
